In 2017 a group of women started the Ikhaya After School Classes in the Lwandle township.
Ikaya After school classes is a Non-Profit Organization, (NPO) Reg No. 156-650.
Due to crime in the Lwandle community, they realized there was a need for after-school programs. Children become targets of crime because they are left alone while their parents are away working. Thus the program was started to keep children safe and off the streets. The children in the program are between grades 1 and 7. At IASC, the children get help with homework. They also receive extra assistance through classes in English, Afrikaans, and Mathematics.
Nina was 2018 invited to visit IASC to see their activity and progress first-hand, where she discovered that all the women who work there are volunteers.
The NBP Charitable Foundation has supported Ikhaya After School since January 2019
