NBP Charitable Foundation
To Love, To Care, To Give
The exclusively charitable foundation NBP Charitable Foundation was founded in 2015 by Mrs Nina Brag Pettersson. NBP Charitable Foundation’s main objective is to foster the wellbeing and education of underprivileged children world-wide, with the primary focus on South Africa.
The Foundation consists of a Board of Foundation and an Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Foundation is exclusively charitable and we do not conduct business of commercial kind.
Mrs Nina Brag Pettersson, founder of NBP Charitable foundation and member of the advisory committee travels to South Africa on an annual basis since 2006. The projects we choose to sponsor initially come through people Mrs Nina Brag Pettersson has personally met while spending time in South Africa. Developing close, personal long-term relationships is an important part of the work we do to fully understand the needs of the project and enable us to provide support required to foster the wellbeing and education of underprivileged children.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about the NBP Charitable Foundation. On behalf of our founder and the advisory committee, it is our hope that you will assist us as we continue to pursue our passion for helping under-privileged children, creating a better world for them now so that they may create a better world for the future.
The Foundation is under public supervision by the Foundation Supervisory Authority (STIFA) in Liechtenstein. Stifa

“Bizweni Centre believes that every child, irrespective of their disability and circumstances, should have access to the right education and care. Bizweni Centre provides a safe, loving environment where a child with a disability has the opportunity to learn and develop to their fullest potential.”
-Bizweni Centre mission statement
When the pandemic started, Bizwenies' biggest concern was the well-being of the children. They made the decision to set up a food drive, using social media to reach potential donors. Between allocated food money from various funders, they have been able to support the children and their families.
They also started developing tangible and virtual home programs to support the children’s educational and therapeutic needs. The therapists and teachers create activity work packets that are simple and engaging for the families to do with their children. The packets are delivered along with the food and care parcels. These activity packets are virtually supported by using WhatsApp by sending videos, audio clips, pictures, and messages.
The Bizweni Centre is a Non-Profit Organization (NPO Reg No 175-297). Bizweni Centre serves as an Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre for children with disabilities ranging from the ages of 2 to 18 years old.
The school caters to all types of disabilities, from the severely disabled who require assistance in all areas of life to the moderately disabled who need to prepare for mainstream schooling.
The majority of the children who come to the Centre are from underprivileged communities where no other outside assistance is available.
The first time Nina got in contact with the Bizweni Centre was in 2009 through a woman from Heldeberg Rotary Club in Somerset West. She later held a lecture there about brain damage for the staff and students. Since then, she has been volunteering there every time she's been in South Africa.
The center is run by Vicky Hinrichsen and her fantastic staff. They have helped the center evolve and grow over the many years Nina has been working with them.
The NBP Charitable Foundation has supported Bizweni Center since January 2017
In 2017 a group of women started the Ikhaya After School Classes in the Lwandle township.
Ikaya After school classes is a Non-Profit Organization, (NPO) Reg No. 156-650.
Due to crime in the Lwandle community, they realized there was a need for after-school programs. Children become targets of crime because they are left alone while their parents are away working. Thus the program was started to keep children safe and off the streets. The children in the program are between grades 1 and 7. At IASC, the children get help with homework. They also receive extra assistance through classes in English, Afrikaans, and Mathematics.
Nina was 2018 invited to visit IASC to see their activity and progress first-hand, where she discovered that all the women who work there are volunteers.
The NBP Charitable Foundation has supported Ikhaya After School since January 2019

“The Consonant of the breathing H.” The poet and the classical philologist Jesper Svenbro spoke about this in a radio program I heard many years ago. I do not remember in what context it was mentioned, but thought it sounded beautiful, and I saw in front of me the H-shape like the frame of a building.
It is often the case when my images are created that fragments and impulses from different directions are transformed and put together into something new.
In this graphic sheet, the drawing of the H-shape has also been composed together with a kind of rudder, the ability to navigate, the single line (the safe course), and the ellipse or almond shape (Vesica Piscis lat.)
The blue ellipse is a symbol of life itself, calm breathing (oxygen), and the rudder that can steer us towards what we want and can imagine.
Annie Lennox’s beautiful song “Universal Child” put the different pieces together for me to shape the picture.
I want to end with the last lines of the song
”I can feel you, you´re everywhere Shining like the sun. And I wished to God that kids like you Could be like everyone.”
